Here are the steps to applying for a child's admission to Sun Haven Waldorf School:
- Submit an application form along with a $50 application fee and all supporting documentation by May 20th (enrollment will continue through August 15th, depending upon program space).
- A class teacher will review the application and assess whether our program can meet the student's learning needs.
- If enrollment looks positive, then the class teacher will interview the parents and meet the child to obtain further information about the suitability of the school for the child.
- The teacher will bring their recommendation to the faculty in-take/out-take committee for a final enrollment decision.
- The family will be notified of the committee's decision. Students whose academic, social and/or emotional needs cannot be met by our programs will be informed of that decision. Families for whom the school is a good fit will also be informed.
- The School Administrator will set up an enrollment meeting with the family to discuss the school's policies and approaches and to finalize the tuition contract and payment arrangements.
To enroll in Grade One at Sun Haven Waldorf School each child goes through a Grade One readiness assessment that allows the faculty to be confident that the child is ready for the challenges of Grade One. Children develop at different rates and not all children will be ready at the same time, so we cannot say that a child born after a specific date will enter Grade One in any given year. Experience has shown that it is unusual for a child born after June to be ready for Grade One entry in September (and for boys this date is even earlier). New applicants and current Kindergarten students go through this assessment prior to Grade One entry.

Testimonials
My son's love of nature has only grown since joining Sun Haven Waldorf School for kindergarten in 2008. The fact that the school encourages an exploration of and curiosity about the natural world only solidifies my resolve to expose him as long as possible to this education. And the fact the school is right across from the beach sure doesn't hurt!
It was a huge leap of faith for us to switch from public school to a Waldorf School, but after having both of our daughters at Sun Haven for a full year we know we made the right choice. Our oldest daughter, Maggie, loves being part of a small class and feels that she’s part of a school community – both of these things have made a noticeable difference to her self confidence. Our youngest, Molly, came to the school brimming with self-confidence and we’re finding that it’s being channelled in a really positive way. Her natural creativity and energy isn’t being squashed - it’s being nurtured. These things matter a lot to us. We appreciate the way in which the Waldorf approach adapts to accommodate the individual strengths and personalities of our children.
